My in-laws desktop finally died after three years. It originally was the hard drive and I replaced it with a 500Gb Drive that died promptly a week later. Lovely huh?
Well they decided they were tired of having to go into the den to use the family computer. They both had a laptop each to work on, but mainly used it for their work and didn't always have it at home. Now they wanted a machine that can sit on the dining room table to work on as to there is more room for papers to be spread out on. They are also traveling more and taking their newly purchased trailmanor on weekend getaways and want something they can take that will play movies and get on the Internet at the wired campsites.
So I pointed them in the direction of a HP DV9543CL Laptop at Costco. I had a really good experience with Costco with a previous computer purchase so I thought it was more then a safe bet to suggest it for my wife's parents.
They headed off tonight to the new store here in San Jose and found a very similarly configured machine that I sent for them on the Costco.com website. They were out of stock except for the floor unit. Once the found the box my in-laws purchased it feeling safe in Costco's 90 day return policy.
I now have it in my hands and am reloading the OS and software so they can use a clean machine.
Its a really nice system. I think I'm going to upgrade the memory from 2Gb to 4Gb.
